International Students

The University of Costa Rica offers foreign students the opportunity to be part of their student body as undergraduates and graduate students through the formal admissions process.

Students already enrolled in graduate and postgraduate degrees abroad may choose to perform an exchange of one or two semesters at the facilities of the UCR, through exchange agreements that facilitate student mobility.

CATEGORIES OF STUDENTS

The University of Costa Rica has established two categories of students: regular students and exchange students.

  1. Regular students are those students, Costa Rican or foreign, who have been formally admitted to graduate from the University of Costa Rica. Regular students must take an entrance examination. For more information visit the Admissions website.
  2. Visitors or exchange students are those students, Costa Rican or foreign, whose purpose is not to get a degree at the University of Costa Rica, but take courses and then transfer the credits to your home university by a student exchange. These students do not need entrance exam and are not tied exclusively to any school or program of study. The visiting student status may be extended to complete two semesters.

Those who wish to join the UCR as regular students should contact the website http://www.ori.ucr.ac.cr or also:

If the student wishes to pursue as a graduate student should contact the web site http://www.sep.ucr.ac.cr or also:
