The work we do at the University of Costa Rica aims at the development of a more harmonious, solidary, and fair Costa Rican society. For this reason, our education is oriented to the students’ integral growth; we believe that the university should educate the human being and not only the professional or specialist. From this perspective, along with studying a specific discipline, students are taught that respect for human dignity comes before any goals and interests, and that academic knowledge should help improve people's living conditions.
